H1N1 Vaccine for Swine Approved

I was comfortable going right on eating pork through this H1N1 mess but the USDA has expedited a vaccine and now conditionally approved it for a year of use.  Of course, here in the US, we aren't even entitled to a label that tells whether or not the swine was vaccinated.  The vaccine need only be a "product that is shown to be pure and safe and that demonstrates a reasonable expectation of efficacy may be licensed while data to establish efficacy and potency are still being obtained".

ROTFLMAO!  "pure and safe"  really???  Yeah, sure, uh huh.  The only thing I'm absolutely sure of is that my definition of both those words must vary dramatically from the USDA's definition.  "reasonable expectation of efficacy"?  What the heck does that mean?  OK, I'm pretty sure it means we all will be eating pork that has been exposed to the vaccine for better than a year before we know if the vaccine was efficacious, let alone how long it will be before we find out what the "pure and safe" ingredients are and the potential effects of them might be.

I think I need to stock up on pork immediately because I'm not sure but I think I'll be giving up BBQ pork, sausage... in the very near future.
