Papi Needs Our Help

On Sunday afternoon, a Fort Worth police officer grossly over reacted to a dog barking at him by shooting the dog 3 times.  (In shooting at the dog, the officer also wounded a teenager and a younger child!)  The dog is Papi (Poppi ?) and he is in the hospital.  He's had a leg amputated and is in need of more medical care.  Of course, Fort Worth is standing behind it's officer and leaving the owner of the dog to deal with the extraordinary costs of care caused byt their officers actions.  The owners cannot afford what Papi needs (and few of us could).  You can read their plea here, at least until the friends of PD flag it for removal as they appear to have done to the first posting.  (Can you say adding insult to injury Forth Worth PD?)

Papi is at a VCA hospital whose number is 817-520-8387.  I'm sure they'd be happy to take gifts for Papi over the phone and charged to credit cards, although I've been unable to reach them so far.  I'm getting a busy signal so I hope that means folks are already calling in gifts for Papi!

And just in case the friends of PD go after the Craigslist posting again, here it is:

Please help Papi if you can and lend a supporting thought and prayer to Papi and his family.  If the SPCAs and humaniacs really want to help animals, they should really try training police officers on dog behavior!  I am getting sick of "officer shot dog" headlines!!!

Rebecca's comment:

I really appreciate you doing this for us, the family dont know what procedure on setting up a fund towards Papi vet. bills. We need to set-up a fund but dont know the way about it. Once we set-it up we can have the news announce it. The vet. hospital will not accept it through the phone, not sure why. We will try our best to get it going. Papi is stable but good. Thank God, because Papi wants to live. You can also send donation money in Money order/check through the mail, 2001 Kearney Avenue, FW, TX 76106 at this time until we can figure a way to set-up the fundraising section. You can also email at alwaysknowsbest@hotmail.com. Again Thank you!

Response: No problem at all!  I've emailed you and, if you have problems finding a bank to set up the fund, let me know.  I'm sure we can find one or a rescue group there that will help with getting the funds to the vet.
