Lovely Little Christmas Trojan

I'd planned on getting several blog entries up the last couple of days.  I'm really looking forward to a close look at Arlington Animal Control's second oh-so-closely-related-to-PETA witness, Clifford Warwick.  My research is done and I'm not the least bit impressed with his "credentials" and it appears that most of the community that actual has, loves, and cares for reptiles and amphibians isn't fond of him either (to say the least).  I certainly hope he had to file a CV with the court and that someone checked him out thoroughly.  It seems he has a history of inflating his vitae, shall we say.  The EU educational system is quite different from the US system and let's just say his most recent accomplishment of a DipMedSci appears to be the equivalent of a high school course there; what's called an A level course.  It would be a community college course in the US.  Ah, well, you'll all have to wait a bit longer for my analysis.

Unfortunately, my Christmas eve present was a copy of the Trojan Vundo which brought a few of its evil elvish malware friends along for the ride.  I've spent the better part of the last 60+ hours getting a laptop I haven't used for over a year updated and fully protected from the internet nasties while the laptop with my files on it is being disinfected nearby.  So far, it doesn't seem to be anything irreparable or irretrievable EXCEPT for my time.  At the moment, I could probably be persuaded to support the death penalty for those caught creating such nasty things as destructive trojans, viruses, spyware, and malware!

I hope all of you were having more fun the last couple of days than I've had.  With a tiny bit of luck, I'll have a couple of my blog entries finished and posted later today although it could be quite late or into the wee hours depending on how mcuh trouble I have adjusting to a different computer.

And a huge shout out and KUDOS to the guys at Norton who have obviously been working the last few days.  I had to download Norton 360 to deal with some of these internet nasties and have seen the updates to it coming in and killing stuff on my other laptop.  THANK YOU NORTON.
