Either Way, HSUS gets paid

Maybe I'm the only one who finds this bizarre but here goes.

Ellen DeGeneres, who goes around touting HSUS and vegetarianism has recently become a co-owner at Halo Pet Foods.  Halo's Wholesome Beef Recipe: Ingredients: Beef, beef liver, broth, carrots, green beans, yellow squash, zucchini, green peas, mustard greens, celery, water (sufficient for processing), dried kelp, calcium citrate, flax seed meal, oats, pumpkin, sweet potato, dicalcium phosphate, ascorbic acid.  And it was touted by some as of last year for its high quality of meat proteins.  Halo may indeed help feed shelter pets but purchases now put money in Ellen's pocket and she puts money in HSUS.  Counter-productive?  To say the least!

I mean, seriously, we're talking about a woman who is willing to have her own clothes auctioned off to benefit HSUS so thinking she isn't going to send them a chunk from the proceeds at Halo is just plain silly!  And a few days ago, USPS started pushing a stamp collection in conjunction with Ellen and Halo to benefit shelter animals but, of course, Ellen and Halo are doing it for the promo, to sell Halo and, again, that benefits Ellen which benefits HSUS.  And how many animal products go into and into production of postage stamps??

Now one would think that HSUS, having just launched Humane Choice and being SO opposed to using animals for food, would object to Ellen buying Halo.  Well, maybe they did.  SURELY they will turn down money from Ellen now since at least part of that would be tantamount to making money from the killing of animals put in Halo food!  Yeah, sure, uh huh, I'm taking no bets on that one!

Folks, it's all about the money for them.  It isn't about the animals and it damned sure isn't for the benefit of your or my animals!  It's just about putting money in THEIR pockets and exercising control over us.  And the ones like Ellen DeGeneres and nutty pooh loons!

PS: I'm not forgiving Hill's Science Diet yet either!  They can START with a sincere apology and disclosure but I'm sick and tired of companies thinking they can mouth an apology and all is forgiven.  NO, screw up and there's a price to be paid to re-earn trust and they've only just begun the process.  Not only that but they promote that "let's pretend it's a prescription food" which is really just using veterinarians as sales clerks AND the quality of their food ain't that great IMO.

PPS: And I'm none too happy with Drs Foster & Smith right now.  They've denied financially supporting HSUS and denied that HSUS has a copy of their customer list but they have NOT denied that they "share" their customer's contact information with others which could included HSUS.  I've shopped with them for as long as I can remember but not for now.  They're probably going to have to do some backing up just to disclose and make an apology and, if they don't do that, I sure won't shop with them again.  Beyond that, it will just depend on what they have or have not actually done.

That thing they do in Washington: "it's in the past, let's focus on the future" is FLAWED.  If there are no consequences for the past, there is no incentive to behave in the future.  I don't care if the consequences include the entire collapse of Wall Street.  If that's what it takes for them to understand that consequences are real, then so be it.  We'll survive, rebuild; we always do!
