Nosy People Want to KNOW

My second post today is for the NOSY folks out there.  Breaking News: PJBoosinger is an ALIEN!  You have permission to crosspost that breaking news as a quote from me.  Doesn’t that make you nosy types happy?

I grew up in relatively small towns and communities where everybody knew everybody’s business.  There were always at least a few small minded people who would latch onto some single item and make a BIG deal out of it.  Didn’t matter to those small minded people that the item was taken out of context or misconstrued.  They often did those things themselves just for the sensationalized effect.  Never mattered to those small minded people if they hurt others but, oh, my, how they would tend to get upset if anyone would talk about THEIR private business!

Those small minded people have moved themselves and their judgmental attitudes to the internet.  They gather up in the same hen clucks, cliquish style on the internet as well.  Think I didn’t know this when I started blogging?  Of course I did!

I’ve spoken about this general concept in many forums.  Anyone who actually believes they have any tiny bit of privacy is DELUSIONAL and I’m not.  I knew when I started blogging that I was mostly screaming into a vacuum, that my blog might start and end like that as many do.  I also knew it was likely I’d tick someone off and they’d be tempted to go a diggin’.  I didn’t make it hard.  I even tried to make it easy.  Apparently, I made it so easy that some of those I thought most likely to attempt to “out” me recognized it as bait.  For me, just a part of blogger fun.

I chose to use PJBoosinger because I’ve used that name for over a decade.  If I get on a CB or ham radio, my handle is Pandy Bear.  My grandfather was William which is often shortened to Will or Bill but he was known as Red most of his life.  Most of us have a variety of nicknames throughout our lives and I’m not sure where the line is when people want to do the “gasp”, oh, my GOD, that’s a FAKE name.  I suspect it’s when they want fodder for something.  Who doesn’t know that John Wayne is a FAKE name?  Diehard fans wanted to know his real name for mostly positive reasons but that remained his public name.  Big deal, right?

I’ve never denied that PJBoosinger was a “fake” name or whatever you want to call it.  The PJ has taken on a new meaning (more accurately, I’ve given it a new meaning) but it is a nickname I was tagged with in my teens and I like it.  I have disliked the name on my birth certificate for almost as long as I can remember but, for a variety of reasons, I’ve never formally or “officially” changed it and there’s never really been any reason to since I see my pen name, my nom de guerre, as no big deal.  The curious usually ask and I generally share.  The nosy usually DEMAND and I usually send them off to hunt or just generally try to annoy them or worse.

I knew sooner or later some nosy person wouldn’t be satisfied with finding out but would rush back over here to attempt to post that name from my birth certificate in the comments.  I’ve only had the moderation function on for a couple of days and I’ll be turning it off shortly after this posts.  Just more of my warped blogger fun I’m afraid.

A couple of days ago, a smartass did what I expected and attempted to post my birth certificate name in the comments.  The funny part was they did something stupid and it got flagged by the system (over which, I have no control, it’s automated) as spam for moderator review before posting.  I simply couldn’t resist the temptation to bait “Bob” so I turned on the moderator function for the first time and posted a bait comment.  Sure enough, I almost immediately got another post from DCL referencing my “real” name although oddly getting addressed by this RUDE person as “miss Snipes”.  OOPS, I just OUTTED myself.  OMG!  Oh, well, I hear some tiny bit of my info is being passed around on the internet already and I’m sure it’s probably not the first time but I’m bored with the game now so…  After I post this, I’ll release the 2 comments.  They’ll post at my “Rescuers and Raiders” entry.  And here goes with more…

PJBoosinger is on FILE at the Harris County Clerk’s office as an assumed name (and that isn’t the only clerk’s office where it is on file).  I think it’s expired.  Guess I should check into that but they stay on file and accessible even when they expire.  Now wasn’t that easy?  Filing of assumed names isn't necessarily required but sometimes it's useful.  Ya know, like when someone's trying to accuse you of being secretive when you're really right there in public?

I’ve used PJBoosinger and PJ Boosinger on the internet for over a decade.  In many email groups/listservs, I’ve posted my “real” name and you wouldn’t have much trouble finding those, accessing those archives (or at least you shouldn’t have, I didn’t).

My author’s FB page is tied to my more personal FB page and I often “share” items between them AND I have spoken frequently here of my Shibas and you see some video of one of my Shibas on the main page of this blog which has been there for a LONG time now.  PJBoosinger has a flickr account too.  This photo posted at PJBoosinger’s flikr account is the vivitar for my personal FB page.

DAMN, how much easier could I have made it?  Go ahead and report me to FB like I’m the only one on there with multiple IDs!  Yeah, right!

For the really, truly nosy amongst you, I’ll be updating my “About” page in just a few minutes.  I think it’ll be about 20 pages long if you want to print it.  Hey, if I’m going to share, might as well leap all the may to way, way TMI levels, huh?  I tried to squeeze in everything you nosy types might want but, if I missed a topic, I'm sure you'll let me know (probably in some attempted nasty attack rather than by just emailing me).

Oh, yeah, I didn’t cover my sexual history there…

I was a child of the 70’s, double digit in the sex partners since I’ve been single most of my life, serial partners, one at a time, thank you very much.  I believe in choice when it comes to abortion.  My choice for my first pregnancy was to keep the child.  My choice for my second pregnancy 9 years later was abortion.  I may have had an unconfirmed spontaneous abortion in my teens.  I’ve been celibate for 15 years.  Sexually frustrated?  Not at all.  That passes rather quickly especially for one with autoimmune disorders that muck up hormones.  That covers all you’re getting on my sex life (at least form me) which is REALLY none of your damn nosy business.

If you really go out hunting around on the net, you’ll find multiple addresses and phone numbers too.  No doubt one or more of you will be inclined to pass them around like the loons who do that trying to get someone to boil over and kill abortion doctors.  I hope you don’t and not really for my sake.  I worry for my critters but I also really don’t want to have to exercise my rights of self defense.  Don’t get me wrong because I won’t hesitate to exercise those rights.  I would drop someone in their tracks who is threatening me or mine, maybe (probably) even if they were threatening others.  I’d rather not but I will.  Just that simple.  (I will be restoring pretty free comment posting but I will delete postings of my address phone number, whether they are correct or not, if they get past the spam filter.)

Folks, I was trained as an accountant and lawyer.  I know how to hide things if I want better than most and I know how to keep secrets and respect privacy too.  Why some of you think a person’s ENTIRE life is relevant to every little thing just beats the hell out of me but now you’ve got most of mine, or at least the stuff you’d like to toss around as dirt, and most of the real goodies will appear on the “About” page in a few, just click the tab at the top of the page.  I’ve tossed the blood into the water myself for your feeding frenzy/pleasure.  Have at.

Now DCL and the others of you out there who tried to “out” what wasn’t a secret, wanna share?  Wanna share every single item that someone might be able to dig up about you?  Everybody’s got skeletons in their closets, at least they do if they’ve lived real lives, taken a few risks.  Come on.  It’s easy.

Now that that’s done and that particular blogger game is ended, this blog will be returning to business as usual.  I’ll next be dealing with an excessively nosy person who opted to violate someone’s privacy and call in a nasty NPO.  Should people you pay be calling in radical activists to trespass upon you?

For those who have kindly emailed to ask, PJ is my preference and thank you for asking.
