Veterinarians SUCK

I have a new vet.  Not only is she new to me, she's just plain new.  I'm trying to be patient but I think I may have hit the end of that patience.

My beautiful Shiba Inu was bitten by a stray I've taken in.  I accept full responsibility for the incident.  I probably should have cleaned up the wound myself and waited to take her to the vet until after it healed up or became infected.  But she was 2 months late for her rabies shot so, in an overabundance of caution and even knowing she was probably still fully protected against rabies (especially since the stray had previously been vaccinated in my previous cautions for even having her in my home), I took her to the vet.  She determined that my Shiba had a hematoma and that the wound needed thoroughly cleaned out.  I consented.  Well, apparently they weren't taking very good precautions with her as, upon waking from the sedative, she was able to tear out the drain before they knew it.  More hematomas, now needs 2 drains.  That was Monday and, well, I know full well that shit happens.  This kind of careless shit SHOULDN'T HAPPEN!  That was last Monday.

Had her in Wednesday because the swelling isn't going down as it should.  Frankly, I'm not at all sure it was swelling.  Looks to me like it could be a third hematoma.  Vet suggests taking the bandages and wrappings off to see if that helps.  Last night it looked like the "swelling" was going down but I've watched today as the "swelling: appears to have moved and she now appears to have accumulating fluid in her chest.  Sure feels more like fluid than puffed tissue to me!  WTF???

I have an appointment in the morning with this vet to have the drains removed except now I'm not the least bit sure I want this woman to touch my dog again.  But then what?  After my recent experiences with vets, I'm beginning to wonder if there is one single competent and sane veterinarian in the entire Greater Houston, Texas, area.

I'm not sure what I'll decide to do in the morning.  I am sure I won't get much sleep tonight.  I am extremely sure I won't be running to the vet so quickly in the future.  Yeah, I know they don't have an obligation to "do no harm" but isn't there some damn prohibition against doing additional harm?
