Woman Shot Update

The earlier cited story has indeed been revised.  As of 10:25 AM (and I've taken the liberty of extracting critical wording, adding emphasis, and rearranging):

"officer... saw a dog attack in progress... She fired at the dog, but apparently wounded the bystander, who was slightly injured, police said. The dog also suffered a minor wound...  The injured woman... wound to her upper left torso...  She was later listed in stable condition, police said, and was expected to be released today.

"A Galveston County grand jury is expected to investigate a shooting... apparently wounded a woman standing nearby."

Now, might that downplaying of injuries be preparatory to that new expectation of grand jury review?  And here's the AP version at 11:50 AM:

Woman wounded accidentally when cop shoots at dog

LA MARQUE, Texas — A police officer wounded a woman accidentally while trying to shoot a pit bull she saw jumping on a group of people.

The incident happened about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday in a residential neighborhood in La Marque, 35 miles southeast of Houston.

Witnesses say a passing officer spotted what she thought was a pit bull attack but, in reality, was the dog playing with a two people.

The witnesses say the woman playing with the dog shouted, prompting the officer to get out of her car and shoot at the animal. A bullet fragment ricocheted off the street and wounded a woman standing nearby in the chest.

The woman was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston. Police say both she and the wounded dog are expected to recover. The case will be presented to a grand jury.

Everyone knows the whisper game?  Sit in a circle, whisper in your neighbor's ear and pass it on, see what comes out at the other end of the circle and laugh hysterically!

OMGoodness, now it's got "accidentally" right in the title!  "the dog" is back to being a "pit bull" and it's in the opening line of the article.  The officer was "passing" by.  Um, what happened to that "shots fired" comment?  Oh, well, I guess they decide it being a "pit bull" jumping was sufficient to justify firing shots so no need for that any more.  The woman "shouted".  Goodness, THAT must mean there's an attack going on, right?  And now the dog was jumping rather than the officer saw an "attack".

If the officer was shooting at the dog which was jumping on/around the people, how exactly does a bullet ricochet off the street?  How bad a shot is this officer???  Chief, I hope you've got her gun already.  (FYI: PJBoosinger is a girl who actually can shoot a gun where she aims so don't go there.)  I love how bullets become "fragments" when they're being down played :)  Well, DUH

I would be laughing EXCEPT a woman was injured and she was taken by helicopter (instead of ambulance) to Memorial Houston (instead of Ben Taub) AND they haven't updated that at all through the night and this morning.  Early this morning there were reports the dog was injured but couldn't be found then that the dog was taken to the vet AND again they haven't updated.  All the while spinning and downplaying for the LEOs benefit.

So, it isn't funny; not one tiny bit!
