As long as there have been geeks, there have been nasty geeks. Nasty geeks are the ones who create evil programs that cause problems for us all and it seems the nasty geeks have been more active of late than usual; at least it seems so to me. I've had 2 laptops infected with wicked Trojans that completely crashed them. I'm on laptop #3 which is fully updated and has an inordinate amount of protection on it and it has clearly been attacked several times of late although my protection has taken care of most of the issues all by itself and the rest with a little nudging from me. Yet the attacks are regular against anyone who merely surfs the net for information.
I generally like geeks and nerds, count myself lucky if allowed in their circles. They tend to be incredibly smart and excellent critical thinkers. Nasty geeks turn those traits and skills to downright evil purposes for no reason or purpose that makes sense to me! Actually meeting a nasty geek would seriously test my stance on torture; not because they have any information that needs to be extracted but just because I'm not sure but what they have generally earned some serious payback pain! While the pain to me is quite real in dealing with these problems dealt me by nasty geeks, what is worse is the serious theft of time from each of us who has to deal with the issues they create.
Ah, well, it is what it is for now. My presence on the net and blogging may be erratic in the coming days as I'm going to do as the geeks always advise and that's to take some time off net to "clean up my act and computers" :)
