Mastiffs Shot in Animal "Rescue" Raid

Somebody asked me recently what happens if the police want to execute a warrant and you aren't home.  (Of course, we know what happens if you are home.  A child may be executed by the police.)  Turns out that if you're not home, they may start the animal "rescue" process (likely any warrant execution process) by shooting your dogs.  WTF kind of "rescue" starts with the bullet style execution of confined dogs?  No offense intended to the exotics community but who the F*** executes beautiful Tibetan Mastiffs to rescue crocodiles?

Meet the Do-Khyi:

The Do-Khyi is one form of the Tibetan Mastiff which is one of the ancient breeds.  (Yes, related to the Shiba Inus and Akitas that I blogged about recently being targeted for BSL.  Yep, my personal bias showing a bit here.  I have come to adore the ancient breeds.)

Just FYI.  Although I haven't posted on the exotic seizures of late, it doesn't mean I haven't been paying attention.  Now that you've watched the serious ramping up of seizures and raids in the last few months since YOU GUYS didn't step up to defend USGE are you beginning to realize that might not have been a wise choice?  Think about it.  It was your failure to rally round another owner in your community that opened the door to these other seizures and no doubt it goes back way before USGE but that was one huge opportunity to send a message by standing up and you BLEW IT.  Y'all better get your stuff together or they may well coming knocking on your door next.  Told you so!  Now back to the matter at hand.

Gee, the HSUS partnered up with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and, whosh, Terry Cullen gets raided.  Do you think that's a coincidence?  Talk of an alleged sexual assault complaint that somehow initiated all this mess but no one wants to cough up the details.  WTF?  The warrants are SEALED????  WTF?  What are you hiding up there in Wisconsin?  As far as I'm concerned, the whole damned thing starts to stink to high heaven.

"Police executed a search warrant on Cullen's building on Wednesday afternoon and found the animals. Why the warrant was issued in the first place has yet to be revealed. But when officers first entered the building, they felt threatened by some dogs that met them at the door. Those officers shot and killed two Tibetan mastiffs."  You MFing SOBs!  The stench isn't coming from that building in Milwaukee, it's coming off the law enforcement officers!

These raids are about a lot of things like power and control and money but the one thing they are NOT about is the animals.  There is no way in hell you can convince me that a raid is about animals if it starts with bullet execution of dogs for meeting you at the door of THEIR HOME!  You can't even persuade me it is about the animals when you start euthanizing them within hours after the raid as is done in nearly every one of these cases.

And would you ALL please go look at the s*** eating grins and goo-goo faces the 2 "rescuers" in khakis are making at each other in the picture here as they haul of their booty?  They say "250" or more animals BUT they are including feeder animals in that.  (For those who don't know and very simply put, feeder animals are animals fed to other animals/carnivores.)  The true count appears to be less than 125 animals.  (Oh, don't be squeamish about it.  Just because your dog and cat food comes in a bag or a can doesn't mean it isn't made from animals; just means you get to pretend nothing died to feed your fur kids because the killing was done by others far away.)

And why were these animals seized?  "Among the living animals, some were in "subpar condition," but most should be able to make a full recovery, Christie said.  The inside of the brick building was a cluttered mess of animal cages and tanks, according to police officers, firefighters and others who had been inside."  Oh, there are some more inflammatory allegations, the standard ones.  But it boils down to "subpar" and "clutter".  WTF?  WTF?

If subpar and clutter are now the grounds for animal seizure and forfeiture (and they certainly seem to be these days) and we can't pull our stuff together and join together to fight, then those of use who don't want our animals in the hands of these grinning lunatic thieves should probably hug our babies and have them euthanized immediately because probably 80% of us couldn't meet the par or above without clutter in our homes requirement.

And, yes, there were a few dead animals and some poop, etc.  Geez, big woop.  Not all of us are as freaked out about such things as the lunatic humaniac fringe with their biohazard wear.  We don't feel the need to follow each animal around and catch the poop before it hits the ground.  These nut jobs act like animal shelters are spic and span 24/7 and those of us who have been in them at opening time know better!  It's the difference between having done actual animal care rather than dropping by and merely showing up for the seizures.

Those of us who care about animals have GOT to get together on one side of this fight, period.  Whether your fave is dogs or cats or something more exotic and whether you breed or don't and whether you're in the commercial animal business or a private owner or working in rescue; I'd like to think the ONE thing we can agree upon is this:

STOP KILLING THE ANIMALS LIKE THEY ARE DISPOSABLE AND CALLING IT "RESCUE"!

Can we at least agree to that one thing?  That simple message to send to law enforcement?  Please tell me we can agree on that one thing!
