Happy Harvest and Poison for Pets Warnings

Macadamia, Avacado, Cyanide in fruit seeds, pits/pips, Xylitol...

'Tis the season when we pick up imported goodies and dig our our recipe books, thus ending up with foods and other stuff in our houses that isn't the norm and oh, so many of them could be hazardous (which is why we pet folks didn't have them in our houses but we've forgotten that underlying reason in the excitement of the season :).  Worse yet, our loving friends, families and business associates send those goody boxes without knowing what may be harmful to our pets so put those up high in a closet if you can't open and "vet" them immediately as your dog or cat may be able to sniff "vet" them and tear in while you aren't looking.  Don't forget to put those after dinner mints and gum up out of reach too!  Here's a few links to help you in keeping your homes safe for your pets in this season and for the upcoming years:

If you must hang mistletoe, seal it in a Ziplock bag and tack that bag securely out of pet reach, including out of flying cat reach!

And no fruity alcohol drinks for our fur babies, not even to toast in the New Year!  As you think of having one of those for yourself, remember to make arrangements for a designated driver, give up your keys, or call that cab as it would sadden your fur babies if you don't make it home safely!!!

ENJOY your Poinsettias!  Any time you bring new plants into the house, animals may be attracted to them and it's never good to let them gorge themselves on ANYTHING but the rumor that Poinsettias are super poisonous is an URBAN LEGEND.  And here and bookmark that one as it's the National Poison Center, a great resource!

For now I wish you a

Happy Harvest Festival! With great thanks to Squanto for keeping the Separatist Pilgrims alive to pass the holiday down that we now call Thanksgiving. "The modern Thanksgiving holiday traces its origins from a 1621 celebration at the Plymouth Plantation... 'First Thanksgiving.'... At the time, this was not regarded as a Thanksgiving observance; harvest festivals existed in English and Wampanoad tradition alike."              I LUV Wikipedia!

Have a Happy and Safe Holiday season!
