Boado and Kearny Updates

Just in case anyone is wondering...

Mr. Boado, after being forced to give up his home and all animals but his children's dogs, is still facing 2 criminal charges in Harris County according to the Harris County District Clerk's website.  The next setting is shown for January 6, 2010.

Mr. Kearny got most of his animals back but still appears to be facing 2 criminal charges in Dallas County and no disposition for either case.  The Dallas County files are a wee bit more interesting.  For one case, they seem to show a setting for January 6, 2010.  For the other case, I get a screen that says this:  "Public access to this file is denied"  WTF???  I certainly hope that's a glitch but I've been getting that response from their website for weeks.

At any rate, the Kearney case does tend to support that when the little court splits the baby, the animal owner is still going to get charged and tried.  One of the problems with trials in JP and Municipal courts is that they try to give everybody a little bit of a win but, when they do that, the government is the only one who "wins".  Each and every one of us loses every time they do that because it eats away at our rights as the government pushes further and further into them with each case.  1,000 small animals, then 500 of multiple sizes.  Now 25,000+

Texas has always been the bastion of personal property rights.  We have a castle law.  What on earth are we doing letting these wackos come in here and tell us what to do with our animals?  I think it's time to tell our legislators we think this is the equivalent of cattle thieving and everyone knows what the traditional penalty for cattle thieves is!
