Judge Cooper, You can't turn back time. But you can sua sponte revise your decision, vacate that silly $12,000 award, and return the rest of Mr. Kearney's property. Yes, it puts the government and the SPCA of Texas at some risk of being sued but they knew that when they decided to take their pre-emptive actions and seize the animals. That's the risk they take every time. Given the damages to Mr. Kearney and the costs he's endured, I wouldn't blame him for suing but I'll bet he would settle for being restored his property and getting his out of pocket damages back if the authorities behaved professionally in approaching him.
It's long past time for a judge to tell the SPCA of Texas that they can't act like Teens Gone Wild. Think about it.
